Is Muse for Small Business worth connecting to my Meta ad account?

By The Tofu team ·

Connect it if you run a small business in the US or Canada and want one agent to read your ad results and draft campaigns for your review. Use Meta's AI business assistant in Ads Manager if B2B ads are the main job. Meta launched Muse for Small Business on September 29, 2026. It connects Muse, Meta's personal AI agent, to your Meta ad accounts, Facebook Pages, Instagram and tools like Shopify. Muse has a free plan. Meta says nothing publishes, sends or spends without your approval, but it hasn't said what Muse can change in an ad account.

As of November 2026.

What is Muse for Small Business, and how is it different from Meta's AI business assistant?

Muse is a personal AI agent Meta introduced on September 8, 2026. It runs on its own virtual machine in the cloud, so it keeps working after you close the app. On September 29, 2026, Meta added "a collection of new skills and connectors inside Muse to help people run their businesses." You give Muse a goal, such as finding new customers, and Meta says "it gets it done," coming to you with ideas along the way.

Muse is not the assistant in Ads Manager. Meta has three AI tools a business might use:

ToolWhat Meta says it doesWhere it works
MuseWorks toward a goal across the services you connect and brings you ideas. Nothing publishes, sends or spends without your approvalmuse.ai and the Muse app for iOS, Android and Mac
Meta AI business assistantAnalyzes campaign results, benchmarks performance, gives recommendations and fixes account issues such as disabled accounts and payment or delivery errorsAds Manager, Meta Business Suite and Business Support Home
Meta AIWorks with your Instagram, Facebook and ad profiles to give you insights about your business and performanceThe Meta AI app and website

In short, the assistant lives inside Meta's ad tools and works on your ads. Muse is a separate app that works across your business, and your ad account is one of its connections.

Can Muse create or change my Meta campaigns on its own?

Meta hasn't said what Muse can change in an ad account. Here is what it has published:

  • Muse "can connect your Instagram professional account analytics, Facebook Pages, and Meta ad accounts in a few clicks."
  • Meta's ad example is analysis and a draft. The launch post suggests asking Muse to "analyze what's working or not, and draft a campaign for next week." Its muse.ai page says Muse helps you "improve your ads and content."
  • The launch post says "nothing publishes, sends, or spends without your approval." The muse.ai FAQ adds "and you can undo it."
  • Meta's getting-started page warns: "Your Muse may be inaccurate or take unexpected actions. Monitor its actions carefully and intervene as needed."

PPC Land wrote on October 11, 2026 that Meta's post gives "no indication of whether access to a Meta ad account is read-only or includes changes to budgets, bids or creative." We found no Meta page that settles it.

Approvals have a catch. When Muse asks to act, Meta's help page lists choices from "Allow once" to "Always allow," and Always allow lets Muse take that type of action for that connector in the future without asking again. Under Settings, then Permissions, you can manage permissions per connector and pick "Always ask," so Muse asks before any action. Muse's activity log shows what it did.

Is Muse for Small Business free?

Yes, up to a usage limit. Meta says Muse is "free for most of what people need." Its help center lists two paid plans: Power at $20 a month (500M Muse tokens a week) and Maximum at $100 a month (3B Muse tokens a week). Meta says subscription benefits and availability "may vary by region and account."

If you run a small business in the US or Canada

Try it, starting with questions and drafts. Ask which posts and ads did best, or for next week's campaign plan. Then build it yourself in Ads Manager, or approve each step one at a time. Before you connect anything:

  • Check you qualify. You must be 18 or older and in the US or Canada.
  • Connect only what the task needs. Each connector is one more place Muse can read from or act in.
  • Use read-only where you can. Meta says "many Connectors can also be set up so that Muse is only able to retrieve data."
  • Check its work. Meta says to "oversee its actions regularly to make sure they match your intentions." You can also ask Muse for the sources behind an answer.

If your B2B ads live in Ads Manager

Start with Meta's AI business assistant. It sits where you already work and is built for campaign analysis and account issues. Meta is "beginning to test" campaign creation, targeting updates and budget changes in the assistant, with "previews, approvals, and controls." Our page on letting the assistant change B2B campaigns covers the risks.

Muse adds value only if you also want help outside ads, such as email, invoices or store orders.

If you want an AI to build or change campaigns

Meta documents controls for its ads MCP server more clearly. On October 6, 2026, Meta said agent-staged work "now lands as a draft in Ads Manager" and "every action is gated behind advertiser-set permissions and explicit approval before anything goes live." It works with outside AI tools, and Meta's setup guide covers Claude Code and ChatGPT (how to connect it). Or keep targeting, budget and bid changes in your own hands.

If you're outside the US and Canada

Meta's muse.ai/business page says Muse for Small Business is "available today to people in the US and Canada who are 18 and over," and that Meta doesn't "have additional timing to share now."

One wrinkle: on October 27, 2026, Meta launched Muse itself in Singapore, with connectors such as Gmail, Grab and Shopee. That post doesn't mention business connectors or Meta ad accounts, and the muse.ai/business page still lists only the US and Canada. In Singapore, check the list under Settings, then Connectors, before you count on business features.

If you judge your ads on pipeline

Muse can only judge what it can see. The 15 tools Meta named at launch include HighLevel, Klaviyo, Shopify and Stripe, but not HubSpot or Salesforce. The full list is in the app's Settings, "with more to come." You can ask Muse to build a custom connector, but Meta says it "doesn't review custom connectors or how they use your information." Without your CRM, Muse sees the results Meta counts, not which leads became deals.

What to avoid

Don't pick "Always allow" for your ad account to save clicks. For anything that spends money, approve one action at a time and read what it will change. And don't take Muse's view of "what's working" as final for B2B. A cheap form fill in Meta's numbers may never become a customer.

Where Tofu fits

Tofu Ads Agent is not a general business agent like Muse. It doesn't handle email, bookkeeping or store orders. It plans, builds, launches and optimizes paid programs on LinkedIn, Google Search, Google Display and Meta. It connects to HubSpot or Salesforce, reads closed-won and closed-lost deals and pipeline, and proposes an ICP and segments. Campaigns are staged in your own ad account switched off and never launch automatically, and weekly bid, budget and creative recommendations stay proposals until you approve them. It costs a flat $2,500 a month, not a share of ad spend.
