Is there a tool that automatically excludes companies from my LinkedIn ads after they've seen a set number of impressions?
TofuAnswer by the Tofu team · checked
Yes, but LinkedIn doesn't do it on its own. LinkedIn's frequency cap counts impressions per member, not per company, and only works on brand awareness ad sets. To cap a whole company, you can build an exclusion list by hand in Campaign Manager's Companies hub, or use a tool. Fibbler is the cheapest automatic option (monthly cap, from $89 a month). Factors AdPilot lets you pick the time window but needs Factors' Enterprise plan or an add-on. Tofu Ads Agent caps companies per week on campaigns it builds. ZenABM finds the heavy accounts, but you choose what to exclude.

When each option is the right pick
LinkedIn's frequency cap
Pick it when you run brand awareness ad sets and want to stop one person from seeing an ad too often. You set it in the Budget and Schedule section of the ad set, and changes take effect within 24 hours. With an impressions goal, your cap overrides LinkedIn's default. With a reach goal, it is an extra input to LinkedIn's reach optimization. It won't stop a large company with hundreds of matching members from taking most of your impressions. LinkedIn also says delivery can go over the cap, and it is still releasing the feature gradually, so you may not see it yet.
The Companies hub exclusion list (manual)
Pick it when you want a free fix and can repeat it every week or two. The steps, using the names LinkedIn's help uses:
- In Campaign Manager, click Plan, then Companies.
- Set the date range (the shortest is the last 7 days) and sort by paid impressions. There is no filter for an impressions threshold.
- Select the companies over your limit, click Save as a company list, and choose a static list.
- In each ad set, add the list as an exclusion. LinkedIn's guidance is to switch the audience action from Include to Exclude.
Know the limits. A list can take up to 48 hours to build, so companies keep getting impressions in the meantime. A dynamic list doesn't solve this: LinkedIn's filters (date range, ad sets and campaigns, objectives, company lists, engagement level, job seniority, company size, industry and country) have no impressions threshold, and its help describes a dynamic list as adding new matching companies without saying whether any drop out. That is why a static list is the safer choice. Companies only come back when you edit the list. A company list expires if it isn't used in an active or draft ad set within 90 days. You also need a Company Page linked to the ad account to use the Companies hub.
Factors AdPilot
Pick it if you already pay for Factors at the Enterprise level, or you want caps tied to intent (for example, more impressions for accounts sales is working). Factors says that when an account hits your impression or click limit, it is excluded until the time period you chose ends, then re-included. Factors' pricing table lists impression control on the Enterprise plan only (from $30K a year), and its FAQ says AdPilot can also be bought as an add-on. Factors doesn't publish which time periods you can choose.
Fibbler
Pick it if you want automatic company caps on campaigns you already run, at a low monthly price. You select campaign groups or campaigns and set a maximum number of impressions per company. When a company reaches it, Fibbler adds it as an exclusion in Campaign Manager. The cap runs from the 1st to the last day of each month, and all exclusions are removed at the start of the next month, so a company that hits the cap early stays out for weeks. Fibbler says LinkedIn allows 200 excluded companies per campaign, counting exclusions already there (LinkedIn's own help allows up to 200 selections, inclusions and exclusions combined, for demographic-based targeting, and up to 200 companies with the Company Names option). Fibbler advises against capping retargeting campaigns. The Growth plan ($89/month) allows 3 active caps; Unlimited ($129/month) removes that limit. There is a 30-day free trial.
ZenABM
Pick it if you want to see impressions, clicks and cost per company and decide yourself who to cut. ZenABM says impression capping is "not a single switch": you set a ceiling, filter for accounts over it (for example, high impressions and zero clicks), and push them to exclusions. ZenABM then syncs those exclusions to LinkedIn and re-applies them daily to every active ad set in scope. It says LinkedIn allows up to 200 exclusions per ad set. Plans start at $59 a month.
Tofu Ads Agent (our product)
Pick it if you want an agent to build and run your LinkedIn program, with the company cap handled inside it. Tofu's audience penetration filter caps impressions per company. The default is 100 impressions in 7 days, and you can set it from 1 up. At a daily check, Tofu excludes any company over the limit from the campaign, and the company comes back a week later. You can also keep a company filtered out until you say otherwise. The filter covers every ad set in the campaign, never changes budgets, bids or targeting, and is on by default for LinkedIn campaigns Tofu builds. It isn't a standalone capping tool for campaigns you built yourself. Tofu costs a flat $2,500 a month for the whole agent, not a share of ad spend.
