MCP servers

Is there a LinkedIn Ads MCP server I can use with Claude or ChatGPT?

By The Tofu team ·

Not an official one you can sign up for. LinkedIn hasn't documented an MCP server for ads, though its developer site now shows a "Develop with MCP" link and one trade recap reports an approval-only beta. For most teams, the working route is a third-party MCP server built on LinkedIn's Marketing API, such as Porter Metrics, Pipeboard, Markifact or AdPlug, which you add to Claude or ChatGPT by URL. Build your own server only if you have developers. If you just want reports in ChatGPT, two vendors say LinkedIn has its own LinkedIn Ads app there.

As of October 2026.

Does LinkedIn have an official MCP server?

Not a public one. Here's what we found on October 26, 2026:

  • No documentation. We found no MCP article in LinkedIn's Marketing Solutions help center, the Marketing API docs on Microsoft Learn have no MCP page, LinkedIn's Marketing API change log (updated October 15, 2026) doesn't mention one, and neither does its Developer News page.
  • A new link on the developer site. developer.linkedin.com now shows a "Develop with MCP" link marked "New" in its Docs and tools menu, and a "Develop with MCP" button next to Create app on its home page. Both open linkedin.com/developers/apps/develop-with-mcp, a page in LinkedIn's Developer Portal that loaded with no text for us, and LinkedIn hasn't published documentation for it.
  • A reported beta. Influent's October 5, 2026 recap of LinkedIn updates (updated October 8), which it says is based on LinkedIn's October agency product update, lists an "MCP Server" among three programs marked "Beta, approval required" for "Nominated advertisers and developers." It says "approved developers can connect AI agents to select official LinkedIn Marketing APIs." LinkedIn hasn't confirmed this on its own pages.

To ask about the beta, contact your LinkedIn account team. Google and Meta do publish official servers; for all three platforms side by side, see connecting Claude or ChatGPT to Google, Meta and LinkedIn ad accounts.

You add any of the third-party servers the same way. In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors, click + Add, then Add custom connector, and paste the vendor's URL. In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http <name> <url>, then type /mcp to sign in.

1. LinkedIn's Marketing API with your own MCP server

LinkedIn's own way to connect software to Campaign Manager is its Marketing API, and you can wrap it in an MCP server you build and host. LinkedIn's quick start: create a LinkedIn Page, create an app in the Developer Portal, apply for the Advertising API on the app's Products tab, and complete the access form. The r_ads and r_ads_reporting permissions read ad accounts and reporting; rw_ads manages them, but only on accounts where the signed-in member is an Account Billing Admin, Account Manager, Campaign Manager or Creative Manager.

Limits:

  • Access tiers. Every app starts in Development tier, which reads data for all the ad accounts you administer but edits only up to 5. You add each of those accounts under Products > View Ad Accounts. Editing more needs Standard tier, which you request with a video showing how your platform creates, edits or optimizes campaigns, and LinkedIn may say no.
  • Sign-ins expire. Access tokens last 60 days, and LinkedIn's programmatic refresh tokens last a year. After that, the member has to sign in again.
  • AI rules. LinkedIn's Developer AI Policy bars using page and member data from its Marketing APIs (posts, profiles, and standardized data such as industries and job functions) to train AI or as input to AI features, apart from listed exceptions. Check what your server sends to the model.
  • Hosting. Claude on the web needs a custom server it can reach over the public internet, and ChatGPT needs a public HTTPS address or OpenAI's Secure MCP Tunnel; Claude Code can run one locally.

2. LinkedIn's Ads app in ChatGPT (reported, reporting only)

If you only need reporting in ChatGPT, this may be the shortest route, but we couldn't confirm it on a LinkedIn or OpenAI page. OpenAI's site has a page titled "LinkedIn Ads plugin for ChatGPT," but it blocked our check, and LinkedIn's pages don't mention the app. AdPlug's guide (updated October 24, 2026) says "LinkedIn publishes its own LinkedIn Ads plugin for ChatGPT, in beta, with read-only access to ad set performance." Porter Metrics also calls it LinkedIn's own app. Read-only means it can't create or change campaigns, and it works only in ChatGPT. Look for it in ChatGPT's Plugins directory and check who publishes it before you connect.

3. Porter Metrics

Porter Metrics is a reporting tool with a hosted MCP server at https://mcp.portermetrics.com/mcp. You connect LinkedIn Ads inside Porter, with no LinkedIn developer app, and use the same URL in Claude, Claude Code or ChatGPT. Porter's LinkedIn Ads connector page for Claude (last updated October 19, 2026) says it reads 226 LinkedIn Ads fields and, after you confirm each change, can create campaign groups, campaigns and ads as drafts, pause or activate them, and change budgets, bids, schedules and targeting. It also says Porter enables each ad account for changes once, and until then LinkedIn refuses them. Porter's general MCP page, from May 2026, still describes read-only access. Porter says a Viewer role on the ad account is enough to read, while changes need Campaign Manager or Account Manager.

Cost: a free plan with 100 AI credits a month; reporting from $12.50 per account a month billed annually, or $15 month to month for one account; 1 credit per completed change. The free plan gives AI chats only the last 15 days of data.

4. Pipeboard

Pipeboard's LinkedIn Ads MCP server, at https://linkedin-ads.mcp.pipeboard.co/, has 50+ tools: campaigns and campaign groups, budgets and bids, creatives, demographic breakdowns, matched audiences, lead gen form responses and conversions. It works with Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT and other MCP clients, and you don't need a LinkedIn developer app. Pipeboard says creatives are created as drafts, and its write tools have a dry-run mode that shows the exact LinkedIn call without making it. It doesn't say campaigns start as drafts, so use the dry run on those.

Cost: Free (2 ad account slots, 30 tool runs a week); Pro US$29.90 a month (3 slots); Premium US$99 a month (10 slots); Agency US$199 a month (25 slots). Extra slots cost $10 a month each, and annual billing saves 17%.

5. Markifact

Markifact connects LinkedIn Ads and other marketing platforms to AI tools at https://api.markifact.com/mcp, and says it's listed in Claude's connector directory and ChatGPT's plugins marketplace. It covers reporting across ad accounts, lookups of real targeting values, campaign groups and campaigns, and single image, video, carousel, text and Spotlight ads. New work stays paused, and Markifact holds every account change until someone approves it. You don't need your own LinkedIn developer app.

Cost: Pro from $79 a month with 2,500 credits; Team from $249 a month with 10,000 credits; free trial credits to start. From an AI tool, discovery tools are free and data operations, such as pulling a report or making a change, typically cost 1 credit each.

6. AdPlug

AdPlug connects LinkedIn, Google, Microsoft and Reddit Ads (not Meta) at https://api.adplug.app/mcp/linkedin-ads. It's read-only until you turn on write mode, and every write shows the API call for you to confirm first. With writes on, it can create campaign groups, campaigns, creatives and saved audiences, and change budgets, targeting and creatives. AdPlug says it runs on LinkedIn's Marketing API "with Standard tier access already granted," so you sign in with LinkedIn rather than setting up your own app.

Cost: Free ($0, view only, one platform, 500 requests in the first 5 days and 50 a month after); Pro $29 a month (5,000 requests and 200 edits a month); Max $89 a month (unlimited).

How to choose

  • Reports in ChatGPT only: look for LinkedIn's own Ads app in ChatGPT first.
  • Reports in Claude, or LinkedIn next to other platforms: Porter Metrics or AdPlug's free tier; Porter also covers Meta reporting, AdPlug covers Microsoft and Reddit.
  • Changes with an approval step: Markifact, Porter Metrics, Pipeboard, or AdPlug with writes on. Start read-only, and test each tool's drafts and previews first.
  • A narrow in-house use case and developers to build it: LinkedIn's Marketing API, with Standard tier if you edit more than 5 ad accounts.
  • LinkedIn's own MCP server: ask your account team about the reported beta.
