Can my team use Meta Ads Manager without a personal Facebook account?
Not yet, for most teams. Managed Meta accounts let people use Ads Manager and Meta Business Suite with a work login and single sign-on instead of a personal Facebook profile, but Meta says migration "is not currently available for all organizations" and hasn't given a date for general availability. Until your company can switch, each person who works in your business portfolio needs their own Facebook account: Meta's invite form takes the email on a Facebook account or a managed account. An Instagram login isn't a dependable route to full Ads Manager access.

What are managed Meta accounts?
They are work logins for Meta's business tools, run by your company instead of tied to someone's personal profile. Meta's resource center calls them "a company-managed login solution" that lets employees reach business tools such as Ads Manager with "work login credentials that don't require a Facebook account."
Your IT team can add single sign-on and two-factor authentication, and create accounts automatically from Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra ID or Okta. With that automatic setup, removing someone from your identity provider deactivates their Meta account, which makes offboarding much cleaner. Meta says managed accounts come "at no additional cost."
They are work-only. Meta's developer docs say a managed account has no timeline or News Feed and can't hold personal permissions on assets. Meta's FAQ for organization managers says it can still reach Facebook Pages through the new Pages experience, but it can't "be used to directly log into Instagram."
Can any company switch to managed Meta accounts today?
No. Meta's help center says migration "is not currently available for all organizations," and its developer FAQ says Meta will "share more information on general availability timelines as it becomes available." Meta's pre-migration checklist asks companies to review and approve beta terms. Leadsie's October 2026 guide says Meta invites organizations to migrate, and that Meta hasn't published a way to request or speed up access.
If you're invited, plan ahead. Meta's checklist suggests starting three or more months before you migrate. Every managed account needs a verified or trusted email domain, and the work email on each person's business portfolio profile has to match the one in your identity provider.
Can we log in to Ads Manager with Instagram instead?
Don't count on it for your team. The guides we found disagree. Blabla.ai's 2026 guide says Meta's business login offers Instagram to people with no Facebook account, though with fewer features for Pages and advertising. Ryze's September 2026 guide says Meta Business Suite needs a personal Facebook account. We found no Meta help page we could read that says an Instagram login gives full Ads Manager access.
What Meta's help center does spell out is how people join a business portfolio. You invite them by the email on their Facebook account, or pick their managed Meta account if your organization has them. Instagram isn't one of the options.
Can we advertise from Instagram without any Facebook account?
Yes, in a narrow way. Meta's Instagram help says you can boost a post from the Instagram app without a Meta ad account or Facebook Page, but this is "limited to businesses who are boosting their Instagram posts for the first time." You enter payment details in the app, the boosts are managed on Instagram rather than in Ads Manager, and you lose some Ads Manager features, such as saved audiences.
That can work for a single boost. A team that shares access, tracks leads and reports on spend still needs an ad account in a business portfolio.
Can we make one shared company Facebook profile for ads?
No. Facebook's terms (effective January 1, 2025) ask you to use the name you use in everyday life, "create only one account (your own)," and not share your password or give others access to your account. A shared "Marketing Team" profile breaks all three. And if Meta restricts that one profile, everyone who logs in with it loses access at once.
What do coworkers see if I use my personal Facebook account?
Your name, work email address and the business assets you're assigned. Meta's help center says that information is visible to people with full control of the business portfolio, and of the assets you're assigned, when you join. If your business ever moves to managed accounts, Meta's employee FAQ says business tools such as Ads Manager have a profile switcher, so you can switch between your work and personal profiles.
What changes when our company moves to managed accounts?
Mostly logins, deadlines and integrations. From Meta's help center and FAQs:
- Deadlines. People get an invitation with a deadline: 30 days when you turn on auto-migration, or 15 days by default when you invite people by hand (you can set 7 to 30). After the deadline, Meta's employee FAQ says, they can't log in to any business portfolio that belongs to your organization until they activate their managed account.
- New invites. Once your organization has migrated, Meta's help center says invitations to join a business portfolio can only go to managed accounts. Admins can change that in Security in Organization Manager.
- Connected tools. Tools connected through a person's Facebook login, such as reporting connectors or a CRM sync, must be reconnected with the managed account within a 30-day grace period. Meta says tools that use a system user (a login for software, not a person) or partner sharing shouldn't be affected.
- Agencies. Meta says to add only the business portfolios your organization owns. If agency staff work directly in your portfolio, you can create managed accounts for them or leave them unmigrated. Partner access at the portfolio level is the other option.
- Portfolios you don't migrate. People keep using their Facebook account on those.
What should our team do in the meantime?
Give each person their own login and only the access they need, since Meta makes basic access the default and recommends two-factor authentication. Keep at least two active people with full control of each portfolio, as Meta's migration checklist advises. Connect your CRM and reporting tools through a system user instead of someone's personal login, so a person leaving doesn't break them. And give agencies partner access to your portfolio rather than adding their people one by one. Our guide to giving an agency access without handing over ownership walks through that setup.
