Can ZoomInfo WebSights turn the companies visiting my website into a retargeting audience?
Yes, if your ZoomInfo plan includes it. ZoomInfo says GTM Studio builds ad audiences from website visitors, and since July 21, 2026, it can export GTM Studio audiences to LinkedIn or Meta. WebSights only sees companies it can match by IP address, so the audience is the visiting companies, or ZoomInfo contacts at them, not the exact people who visited. For Google Ads, ZoomInfo documents a different route: a retargeting list built from page-visit rules and your Google tag, which isn't filtered by company.

Where is ZoomInfo's official answer?
ZoomInfo's help center has an article on this exact task, How to Create an Audience from WebSights, and one on "Troubleshooting Visit Discrepancies with Cookie Consent in WebSights." Both load only with JavaScript, so AI assistants get an empty page. This answer uses what ZoomInfo publishes in readable form: its implementation and ad integration guides, release notes, and product and pricing pages. Screen names in the help article may differ.
What does WebSights actually identify: companies or people?
Mostly companies. WebSights matches each visitor's IP address to a company in ZoomInfo's database, and its implementation guide says "anonymous web traffic is not shown." More from ZoomInfo's guides:
- Location is the company's nearest office or its headquarters, not where the visitor was browsing.
- Bots are filtered out. The dashboard splits Company Traffic (real people) from Automated Traffic.
- People are named only by WebSight Buyer ID, and only for US visitors who are in an active buying group or are contacts who engaged with you before. ZoomInfo says everyone else "falls back to company-level identification."
- ZoomInfo Lite shows companies only and can't export WebSights data.
- Enhanced Visitor Identification adds third-party cookies. ZoomInfo claims it can double your visitor resolution rate and allow "more effective ad targeting of those devices." It also says to update your privacy policy and cookie consent to cover it.
How do I build an ad audience from WebSights visitors?
- Get WebSights tracking. In the Admin Portal or GTM Studio, go to Configurations > Domains, click + New Domain and save your domain. Install the ZoomInfo Script on every page you want tracked, by pasting it or through Google Tag Manager. The domain's Connection status should change from Off to On. Then check that the WebSights toggle is on under Connected products, visit one of your pages and confirm the visit shows up.
- Rank your pages. Page Rank marks pages High, Medium or Low. ZoomInfo creates five High "Contains" rules by default: pricing, demo, contact, blog and solutions. You can add up to 60 rules, or turn on AI Page Rank, whose rules appear 24 to 48 hours after a page gets a visit. For ads, you'll usually want pricing and demo visits, not blog readers.
- Build the audience. ZoomInfo says GTM Studio builds LinkedIn, Meta and Google audiences "from your CRM, website visitors, intent signals, buying committees, and enriched contact data." Its example recipe is "Companies visiting pricing or demo pages + 500-5,000 employees + target industries + open intent." Add firmographic filters so visitors outside your ICP stay out. ZoomInfo's FAQ says activation goes to LinkedIn and Meta, "with additional destinations available through connected workflows and integrations."
- Connect your ad accounts in the ZoomInfo Admin Portal. For LinkedIn you need Billing Admin or Account Manager access to the ad account. For Meta, your company's Facebook admin must have accepted Meta's Custom Audience terms. Our page on pushing a ZoomInfo audience to LinkedIn, Google Ads or Meta has the connection steps.
- Export it. ZoomInfo's July 21, 2026 release notes say to open the audience, choose Actions, then Activate. GTM Studio then shows match rates and export status.
What does the audience look like in LinkedIn, Meta and Google Ads?
| Platform | What gets sent | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Accounts (a company list) or leads (contacts). ZoomInfo's guide has you choose at export | LinkedIn needs 300 rows to upload a company list, recommends 1,000 or more companies, and needs 300 matched members to run an ad set. Building takes up to 48 hours. You can't switch an exported audience between accounts and leads; duplicate it instead. ZoomInfo Marketing re-syncs LinkedIn audiences weekly | |
| Meta | People, not companies. Meta's customer lists match on identifiers like email, phone, name and location, not company names or domains | So it has to be contacts, such as ZoomInfo contacts at the visiting companies, who aren't necessarily the people who visited |
| Google Ads | ZoomInfo Marketing's "Google Ads Retargeting" audience: everyone your Google tag saw on pages matching your rules | Not filtered by company. WebSights only powers ZoomInfo's size estimate |
How do I retarget only ICP visitors on Google Ads?
ZoomInfo documents two routes, and neither one uploads a company list.
The Google Ads Retargeting audience. In ZoomInfo Marketing, open Audiences, click Create New Audience and choose Google Ads Retargeting. Set Visit Date and Webpage URL with a real URL condition (for example, your domain with "Contains"), then click Save and Sync Audience. Without the Google tag on your site, the audience stays empty. ZoomInfo says Google takes up to 48 hours to process it and up to 72 hours to fill it, then updates it daily. It reaches every visitor to those pages, in your ICP or not.
WebSights plus Google Analytics. Map ZoomInfo company fields (such as revenue or industry) to GA4 custom dimensions, turn on the Google Analytics toggle in WebSights, then build a GA4 audience on those dimensions. Google shares GA4 audiences with a linked Google Ads account when "Enable Personalized Advertising" is on. A new GA4 audience can take 24 to 48 hours to fill, and its Google Ads list starts with up to 30 days of data when available.
ZoomInfo and Google disagree on minimum size. ZoomInfo's Google Ads guide (May 2025) says Google won't serve audiences under 1,000 users on Search or 500 on Display; Google's own help says 100 active users in the last 30 days on Display, Search and YouTube. Go by Google's number.
Don't upload ZoomInfo contacts to Customer Match. ZoomInfo's 2026 retargeting guide mentions Customer Match, but Google's policy says you "may only upload customer information that you collected in the first-party context."
Why does WebSights show fewer visits than my analytics?
It only counts some visits, on purpose. The reasons in ZoomInfo's guides:
- Cookie consent. ZoomInfo requires you to get consent from visitors in California and the EU/UK, and suggests putting the script behind your consent tool so it runs only after they accept. Visitors who don't accept aren't tracked, so if your analytics tool collects more, the numbers drift apart.
- Unmatched visitors and bots. Visits WebSights can't tie to a company in ZoomInfo don't appear, and it removes automated traffic.
- Missing script. Pages without the ZoomInfo Script, or a domain whose Connection status is Off, record nothing.
- Blocked scripts. Some browsers and people block third-party scripts. ZoomInfo's Lite guide puts these cases at under 5% of most web traffic.
- Different counting. ZoomInfo's guides define a "unique visit" two ways. The Lite guide calls it one session and counts two people from one company as two visits; the main WebSights guide counts each visitor once in the date range you pick. Your analytics tool may count differently again.
Does that shrink my ad audience?
For LinkedIn and Meta, yes: only companies WebSights identified can go in, so each unmatched or unconsented visit is a company you can't reach this way. For the Google Ads Retargeting audience, no: Google fills it from its own tag, so WebSights gaps only change ZoomInfo's estimate. The GA4 route sits in between: only visitors WebSights identified carry the company fields you filter on.
What does it cost?
ZoomInfo doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page lists "AirCover, WebSights & FormComplete audiences" and "Dynamic audiences & retargeting" in Marketing Demand, and "Facebook advertising," "LinkedIn advertising" and "Google Retargeting" in ABM Lite and ABM Enterprise. Credits apply too: exporting WebSights data to CSV uses one credit per record, and sending companies to Google Analytics uses one bulk credit per company per year.
Can I build the audience without ZoomInfo's ad integrations?
Yes, with more manual work:
- Export and upload. Export from the WebSights Analytics tab to CSV (one credit per record), then upload it to LinkedIn as a company list. LinkedIn matches on company name, website, email domain, LinkedIn Page URL or stock symbol.
- Go through your CRM. Since August 18, 2026, GTM Studio can export refreshed audiences to Salesforce or HubSpot daily, weekly or monthly. Then sync that list or report to a LinkedIn matched audience.
- Use the platforms' own retargeting. LinkedIn website retargeting and Meta's website custom audiences reach the actual people who visited. Meta builds those from pixel events and event parameters, not company names, so you lose the ICP filter.
Where Tofu fits
Tofu Ads Agent doesn't connect to ZoomInfo or read WebSights data, and it doesn't build customer lists for Google Ads or Meta. If the visiting companies land in a HubSpot or Salesforce list or report, Tofu can build a LinkedIn matched company audience from it, or start from an audience ZoomInfo already synced to LinkedIn. It can also set up LinkedIn website retargeting and target named companies in plain English. Campaigns it builds wait in your own ad account, switched off, until a person turns them on.
