Is there a tool that alerts me when Meta turns on Advantage+ features or changes my ads on its own?

By The Tofu team ·

We found none that says it does. Ads Manager's Activity history logs who changed what, but Meta's help page doesn't say that features Meta switches on by default appear there. AdTrail checks Meta and Google Ads accounts about every 15 minutes and posts changes to Slack, but its site doesn't say it detects changes Meta makes itself, and the other tools we checked don't either. To catch them, check Ads Manager's bulk Advantage+ creative view each week, or have a developer compare each ad's settings through Meta's Marketing API.

As of October 2026.

What does Meta change in your ads on its own?

  • Default-on creative features. Meta says some creative features "may be enabled by default, if we predict they will help improve performance," labeled On by default during setup. Review defaults lists them, but only for a new ad or draft, and not features you opted into yourself.
  • Product browsing in existing ads. PPC Land reported on October 15, 2026 that a Meta notice, apparently sent by email, said: "Starting October 28, 2026, we'll add product browsing to your existing ads." The notice offered an opt-out button and a per-ad switch in "Advantage+ Creative and Destination settings." PPC Land found no Meta Help Center article on the change.
  • Settings that come back. JumpFly wrote on August 6, 2026 that replacing the creative, changing the ad format, duplicating an ad or editing an existing setup "may cause recommended enhancements to appear selected again."
  • Pixel events. If automatic events are on, Meta says AI identifies standard events on your website, "such as purchases or leads"; see whether to turn off Meta's automatic events.

When Ads Manager is the right pick

Always, as a weekly check: it's where Meta shows which enhancements are on without any code.

  1. Activity history. Select Campaigns, Ad sets or Ads, select one, and click Activity history on the right. Filter by Activity types and Changed by. Changed by shows your name, a teammate, an automated rule's name, a business identity, or Meta, which Meta defines as "the ad review system at Meta or someone who has removed themselves or been removed from the ad account." It can also mark a status change, such as pending review. Meta says Ads Manager "tracks all changes made to your ad campaigns, ad sets and ads," but we found no Meta page saying that default-on enhancements or product browsing are logged. A clean history isn't proof nothing changed.
  2. Bulk Advantage+ creative view. On the Ads tab, check ads of the same format, click the menu next to Edit and select Advantage+ creative. Meta says this "shows you which Advantage+ creative enhancements are turned on for each of the ads you selected."
  3. In-product notices. Meta says that if it adds product tags automatically, you'll see a notification in Ad creative when you create or edit the ad. Automated rules can send business notifications, but their conditions are metrics and fields such as Updated Time, not creative settings.

When the Marketing API is the right pick

When you manage many accounts and have a developer.

  • Activity log. GET /act_<AD_ACCOUNT_ID>/activities returns key account updates, one week of data by default. Entries carry event_type, actor_name, application_name and extra_data. Event types include update_ad_creative ("Ad updated") and account_spending_limit_reached; none names a single creative feature.
  • Webhooks. Meta's Ads Webhooks push a notice when an ad object is created or its metadata changes (OBJECT_UPDATED), or when its delivery status changes. The watchable fields are things like name, budgets, bids, schedule and updated_time, not creative features, and Meta doesn't say whether its own default-on changes update updated_time.
  • Creative settings. Meta's Advantage+ creative guide says to "use a GET request to retrieve the creative_features_spec" to confirm what's applied. Save it for each ad, compare it daily, and alert on any feature that changes to OPT_IN. Meta says standard_enhancements entries can appear and aren't applied unless set to OPT_IN. The guide names no field for product browsing.
  • Campaign state. advantage_state_info shows whether a campaign is Advantage+ on, and the state of each lever; how to turn off Advantage+ on a Leads or Sales campaign explains the levers.

Meta's ads MCP server also has an ads_account_get_activity_logs tool, "mirroring the Ads Manager campaign history page," so an AI assistant can pull the same log when asked.

When AdTrail is the right pick

When you want a Slack message every time someone edits a Meta or Google Ads account, for example an agency with several people in client accounts. AdTrail says it tracks budget, audience, creative, conversion event, catalog and status changes, checks about every 15 minutes, connects by OAuth with read-only access, and lets you choose which change types alert. Its pricing section lists $97 a month per brand, or $81 a month billed yearly, with 2 ad accounts (Meta and Google) per brand. The free trial is 10 days in that section and 14 days, with no card, in its FAQ. It doesn't say whether it catches changes Meta makes itself, so ask before relying on it for that.

When Markifact is the right pick

When you want a lasting record to search later. Its Meta Ads Change History Tracker pulls change history through the Meta Ads API and writes it to Google Sheets; set the sheet to append so it builds up. Markifact says the API covers the past 7 days, so run it at least weekly. The template page mentions no alerts. Pro is $79 a month and Team $249, with trial credits and no card required.

When n8n is the right pick

When you have someone technical and want alerts for exactly the settings you care about. n8n's Facebook Graph API node sends GET requests to a node and edge you name, so a scheduled workflow could read each ad's creative_features_spec, compare it with the last run and post changes to Slack. We haven't tested that build. A free n8n template already receives Meta's ad account webhooks (creative fatigue, recommendations, ads with issues) and posts a Slack summary; its page doesn't list object updates among them.

How do I find which of my Meta ads got product browsing switched on?

Meta's help pages list product browsing as an Advantage+ creative enhancement (Add product browsing) and under Personalized destinations, which Meta shows on ads in Sales campaigns with a Website conversion location. Run the bulk Advantage+ creative view on those ads, then open Destination and click Edit below Personalized destinations to see which features are on. Meta describes product browsing as leading people on to your website, so Leads campaigns that use Instant Forms may not have it, but the notice PPC Land quoted didn't name objectives, so spot-check one ad.
