Is there a tool that turns one ad design into every Google Display ad size?

TofuAnswer by the Tofu team · checked

Yes, two kinds. Use Google's own responsive display ads if you can hand Google separate images, logos and text and let it build the layouts. It is built into Google Ads and fits them to almost any ad slot. Use a resize tool such as Abyssale, The Brief (formerly Creatopy) or Bannerflow if you need a fixed layout you control in each size. You then upload one image file per size, up to 20 standard sizes, each 150 KB or smaller. Display is moving into Demand Gen, so check its specs before you design.

As of October 2026.

If you want the most placements with the least design work

Use responsive display ads. You upload images, logos, headlines and descriptions as separate assets. Google says it will "adjust the size, appearance, and format of your ads to fit just about any available ad space using Google AI." It also tests combinations of your assets and picks one for each slot.

What to prepare, from Google's specs page:

AssetRatioRecommendedMinimumHow many
Landscape image1.91:11200 x 628600 x 3141 to 15 (required)
Square image1:1600 x 600300 x 3001 to 15 (required)
Square logo1:11200 x 1200128 x 1281 to 5
Wide logo4:11200 x 300512 x 1281 to 5
Headline30 characters1 to 5
Long headline90 characters1
Description90 characters1 to 5
Business name25 characters1

The limit: you don't control the final layout. Google may also add asset enhancements, stock images or AI-generated assets, and it may show your video instead of an image. If your brand team needs to approve every pixel, this route will frustrate them. Google itself points people who want "more control over the creatives" to uploaded image ads.

If you need an exact layout in every size

Design once in a resize tool, export one file per size, and upload them as image ads. Google's uploaded display ads page lists these standard sizes:

GroupSizes (pixels)
Square and rectangle200 x 200, 240 x 400, 250 x 250, 250 x 360, 300 x 250, 336 x 280, 580 x 400
Skyscraper120 x 600, 160 x 600, 300 x 600, 300 x 1050
Leaderboard468 x 60, 728 x 90, 930 x 180, 970 x 90, 970 x 250, 980 x 120
Mobile300 x 50, 320 x 50, 320 x 100

Google also lists regional sizes, including 750 x 100, 750 x 200 and 750 x 300 for Poland. Files must be GIF, JPG or PNG and 150 KB or smaller. Animated GIFs must stop within 30 seconds and run slower than 5 frames per second.

You don't need all 20 to start. For Demand Gen uploads, Google recommends seven: 300 x 250, 336 x 280, 728 x 90, 970 x 90, 160 x 600, 300 x 600 and 320 x 50.

If you are a small team that wants a self-serve tool

Two tools publish their prices.

Abyssale. Every plan includes "AI auto-resize Design," which Abyssale describes as automatically resizing and adapting your designs "to every format in seconds." Start costs $15 per seat per month ($12 billed annually) with 150 generation credits a month. Pro is $45 ($36 annually) and Suite is $75 ($60 annually). HTML5 output and ad-network compliance checks, which Abyssale says "auto-check and adjust designs to meet requirements for Google Ads, Meta, and other ad platforms," are on Suite. Abyssale also lists a Figma plugin if your designs live in Figma. There is a 14-day free trial and no free plan. The pricing page doesn't list which Google sizes it covers, so check that its presets include the ones you need.

The Brief (formerly Creatopy). You pick the new sizes and click "generate a set in selected sizes." Changes you make to one design show up across the whole set. The page doesn't say each layout adapts to its size on its own, so check every size before you export. Every plan exports JPG, PNG, MP4, GIF, HTML5 and PDF, but HTML5 export for selected ad networks isn't on Pro. Pro is $29 a month billed annually ($348 a year), Team is $49 per seat per month billed annually, and Ultra is $79 a month billed annually. Publishing straight to Google Ads is on Ultra and Team, not Pro.

If you need HTML5 or animated banners across many markets

Bannerflow is built for this. You create "one responsive HTML5 master creative" and it generates "every size, format, and market version." It connects to Google Marketing Platform (Campaign Manager 360 and Display & Video 360) and Google Ad Manager, and lists Google Ads among its supported platforms without saying how that link works. Pricing is not public; you request a demo. Bannerflow pitches it at teams running programmatic display.

Before you pay for HTML5, check Google's rules. Your Google Ads account must be open more than 90 days, have more than $9,000 USD in lifetime spend and a good policy record. Google says meeting these doesn't guarantee access, and you apply through a form. HTML5 files are ZIPs of 600 KB or smaller, in the same sizes as image ads.

If your Display campaigns are moving to Demand Gen

Google announced on May 26, 2026 that Display campaigns are moving into Demand Gen, with a migration tool and a transition "expected to complete by 2027." Demand Gen supports responsive display ads and uploaded static image ads. Google's migration page lists uploaded HTML5 as "coming soon," planned for late 2026. Its uploaded display ads specs page already says you can connect HTML5 ads to Demand Gen campaigns, where they serve only on the Display Network. The two pages don't match, so check your account.

Demand Gen image ads use aspect ratios, not fixed sizes:

ShapeRatioRecommendedMinimum
Landscape1.91:11200 x 628600 x 314
Square1:11200 x 1200300 x 300
Portrait4:5960 x 1200480 x 600
Vertical (for YouTube Shorts)9:161080 x 1920600 x 1067
Logo1:11200 x 1200128 x 128 (144 x 144 for single image ads)

Images can be up to 5 MB and logos up to 150 KB. You can add up to 20 images per ad. Uploaded display ads in Demand Gen must be still JPG, PNG or GIF files of 150 KB or less; animation isn't supported. So for Demand Gen, plan four master shapes plus the seven upload sizes.

What to avoid

  • Shrinking one layout into every size. Text that reads well at 300 x 600 is often unreadable at 320 x 50. Check the smallest sizes by eye.
  • Files over 150 KB. That is Google's limit for uploaded image ads.
  • Animated GIFs for Demand Gen uploads. They aren't supported there.
  • Planning a campaign on HTML5 before Google approves your account for it.
  • Assuming responsive display ads will look like your mockup. Google decides the layout.

Where Tofu fits

Tofu Ads Agent (our product) makes Google display creative in up to 24 sizes from your brand's fonts, colors, logos and approved templates. Every element is an editable layer, so you can fix one size by hand. It is a full ad agent rather than a resize tool: it also builds Google Display campaigns, which it stages switched off in your own account. It costs a flat $2,500 a month, so if you only need resizing, the tools above cost far less. Tofu doesn't make HTML5 banners or build Demand Gen campaigns.
