Where do I see my daily spending limit?
In Payment settings, under Current balance. Meta defines it as "the maximum amount Meta allows your ad account to spend per day," so it's set per ad account. If you manage several accounts, check each one; a limit on one doesn't tell you the limit on another.
How long until Meta raises it on its own?
Meta doesn't say, and it publishes no starting amount or schedule. Its article says the limit "usually increases automatically as you build your advertising history, follow Meta's advertising policies and spend up to or near your limits." So the account that keeps spending close to its limit, builds a payment history and follows Meta's ad policies is the one that moves. Any dollar figures you read elsewhere are one advertiser's experience, not Meta's rule.
Does verifying my business raise the limit?
It can, if your account is eligible. Meta's article on raising the limit says advertisers can sometimes request a faster increase, and lists "Verify your business to increase daily spending limit" as one of two options to check your eligibility for. It doesn't promise an amount or a time frame. Verification runs in Security Center, which Meta says you open from Settings in Meta Business Suite, and Meta's steps are in How to verify your business in Meta Business Suite.
Two things to know before you start. Business verification is not Meta Verified, and Meta says it "won't give you a verified badge." And Meta can reject a submission for a website that "fails to load, is not HTTPS compliant," or for information it suspects is false or misleading, so make sure your site loads over HTTPS and your details are accurate first. Agencies: Meta's article doesn't say which business portfolio has to be verified when you run a client's ad account. Look for the faster-increase notification in that ad account's Payment settings.
How does verifying my payment method help?
It's the other route Meta lists: "Verify your payment method to increase daily spending limit." Meta's article names it but gives no steps on the page. Meta's article about the limit says some advertisers can get a faster increase and, "If eligible, you'll receive a notification in Payment settings," so check there first.
Can Meta support raise my limit?
Meta points you there after you've verified. Meta says that if you've verified your payment method or business "and you still want a higher daily spending limit than Meta has set," you can contact Meta support "to check if you're eligible for an additional increase." That's a check, not a guarantee. If you haven't verified yet, do that first.
What happens when my ads hit the limit?
They stop for the day. Meta says "your ads pause and resume the next day when the limit resets," at 12:00 AM in your ad account's time zone. If you aren't eligible for an increase, you wait for that reset. Your ads run until they reach the lowest of three numbers: Meta's daily spending limit, your own ad account spending limit and your daily budget. So an ad set can stop short of its daily budget for a reason that has nothing to do with the ad set. For the other reasons a campaign shows active but doesn't spend, see why a Meta campaign is active but not spending.
Why did my limit go down, or start low on a new account?
Meta says it "may readjust" the limit when:
- You have a new business portfolio, ad account, Page or app.
- You violated Meta's Advertising Standards or other terms and policies.
- You have ads or accounts with issues like low ad quality rankings or low feedback scores on your Page or app.
So don't count on a fresh ad account getting the limit of the account you've used for years. Breaking Meta's Advertising Standards or poor ad feedback can lower it too.
Does monthly invoicing remove the limit?
Yes. Meta says, "If your ad account uses monthly invoicing, Meta does not set a daily spending limit." But Meta says invoicing "is available only to eligible businesses" (you'll see a notification in your business portfolio if you qualify), and it comes with a credit limit across all your invoiced accounts. See what changes when Meta moves you to monthly invoicing and how a Meta credit limit gets raised.
Is this the same as my ad account spending limit or daily budget?
No. Meta sets the daily spending limit. You set the ad account spending limit, a cap on what the account spends across all campaigns, which you can adjust, remove or reset in Payment settings. Meta says that when you reach your own limit, "ads will still be listed as active in Meta Ads Manager." Your daily budget is the average you want an ad set or campaign to spend each day (see why Meta can spend more than your daily budget on some days).
We have a big launch next month. What should we do now?
Start early, because Meta gives no time frame for any increase. For a webinar, event or quarter-end push:
- Check the current limit in Payment settings and compare it with the daily spend your plan needs.
- Verify your business and payment method now, not the week before.
- Keep the account spending close to its limit in the weeks before, since that is one of the things Meta says moves it.
- Run the launch from the ad account you already use. Meta may readjust the limit for a new ad account.
- If you've verified and the limit is still too low, contact support and ask about an additional increase.
- If finance would rather pay by invoice, check Billing & payments in Meta Business Suite for a monthly invoicing offer.
